As he walked away,
not a word did she hear,
but down her sad face,
rolled only one tear.

She couldn't beleive,
that their friendship had ended.
Just moments ago,
was the one she'd regretted.

She had no clue,
what to do or to say.
She just sat there and whispered,
"Why'd it happen this way?".

She wanted to tell him,
that it wasn't true,
but it wasn't a lie,
when she said "I love you".

She hated Nicole,
she wanted her gone.
But she is the duck,
and Nicole is the swan.

She knew that Chris,
truly loved Nicole,
and by just being his friend,
she fulfilled her role.

Telling him the truth,
was a big mistake,
she didn't want anyone,
to feel heartbreak.

Being his friend,
is a hard thing to do,
and there's no manuel,
on the "how to".

She knows his feelings,
and she knows her place,
but accepting the truth,
is hard to embrace.......
